I’m reading Sleep by
Honor Jones and Things in Nature Merely Grow by Yiyun Li

I am reading “Edge of Eternity” by Ken Follett, the third in his Century Trilogy series.

It’s 1,100 pages, and I chose it on purpose for right now. At the beginning of June, my husband I moved from Maryland to Ohio, and I knew that in all the confusion and chaos (and there has been plenty of both!) that I need just one really good, really long book. And it’s perfect! I’ll finish it today. Too bad I can’t say the same thing about all the boxes I still need to unpack.

I am 2/3 of the way through Then She Was Gone. Cannot wait to find out where the missing teen went. I am sure there must be a catch or something I’m missing as the outcome can’t be as simple as I’m thinking.

Yesterday I finished “All the Colors of the Dark” and have started “Death at the Sign of the Rook”. “Exit West” is waiting in the wings.

Just finished the audiobook of My Friends, by Fredrick Backman, which was incredible!

Reading The Unraveling of Julia by Lisa Scottoline.

Listening to Count My Lies by Sophie Stava.

Wish I had more time to read, so I’m slowly working through Four Lost Cities by Newitzer in the morning. And I’ve barely touched Playground. Which is my daytime read, if daytime admits such. Falling asleep every night to Acqua Alta by Leon.

I’m just about done with Broken Country, and then it’ll be Bloodchild and Other Stories by Octavia Butler. I’ll likely start Lolita after that.

In audiobook, I’m finishing up The Chalk Artist by Allegra Goodman. It’s my third book by this author, and I have to say I’m surprised at her range. I think Isola is her first work of historical fiction and I’m curious about how she got there. (And she’ll be here next week.)

After that, probably Beta Vulgaris by Margie Sarsfield.

sly fox hollow by brett allen.

I finished The Unraveling of Julia by Lisa Scottoline and The Lies They Told by Ellen Marie Wiseman. Both of these were good.

Currently reading Asylum Hotel by Juliet Blackwell. Just started this book, but I always LOVE Juliet’s books.

Oh my - LOVED Broken Country. I hope you are enjoying it.

How are you liking The Unraveling of Julia?

It was a bit confusing at first, but turned out to be good for me.

That is a good one - read it a long time ago.

@Elizabeth I’m actually having trouble getting into A Broken Country. I’m about a third of the way through - where Beth goes to Oxford to visit Gabriel - and I’m really surprised that I’m not loving it. My tastes usually align with everyone else’s here and so many people have said it’s a great book. Perhaps I’m just too distracted at the moment. I think I might need to take a break from quality soon and just find a book where lots of stuff explodes, LOL.

The Borrowed Life of Frederick Fife by Anna Johnston.

That happens.

I have read books everyone LOVED and I couldn’t get into them.

LESSONS IN CHEMISTRY and WHERE THE CRAWDADS SING are two of them I can recall.

My policy is: if I am not liking it by 25%, I’m not going to continue.

The Artist and the Feast (Steeds)
The Granddaughter (Schlink) :headphone:

Kim.kovacs, I read Isola and I absolutely loved it. In fact, I just chose this book for my book club to read. It will be a top read of 2025 for me. I have not read any of her other books.
