Oh, this is my tribe. I have ebooks, audio books and hard copy books awaiting me! I cannot seem to resist a library sale! I get a book (ok, books) and the library gets money to buy more books. Seems like a win to me! I have started to stop in a bookstore whenever I travel. Rather than a book, I have been buying a mug or bookmarks. It makes me smile in the morning when I have my coffee and see a mug from a bookstore and a nice way to remember my trip.
Are we counting only the ones on shelves and on tables and desks…or are we
including the many boxes of books we moved across the country a few years
ago?
I think 200-300 and love having a selection to pick from when one is done, depending on my time and mood.
When we went on vacation and visited National Park Service sites, I would buy books, but didn’t get them read. For about the last 10 years, I’ve switched to bookmarks. I have a bunch, but it’s nice to go through them and remember the great times we had.
Personally, I just can’t read a book on Kindle. Am I the only one?
I have maybe 40 or 50 unread, actual books. But, I haven’t actually bought* a book in years. That’s what Amazon points are for!
I know a lot of people who won’t read ebooks. I’m just not one of them. During the day print books work well for me, but as my eyes tire I need to move to ebooks where I can adjust font size.
@Robin_G & @Carol_B - I read exclusively in ebook format for a number of reasons:
- It’s lighter, which helps w/ my arthritic hands
- The lighting is better on it and I can adjust the font size, which helps w/ my aging eyes
- The backlighting allows me to read in bed without disturbing my husband
- I love to mark passages & take notes as I read, & that’s much easier with an ebook
- I often forget something that I’ll want to look up later, (“Who was that character again???”) and ebooks allow searching
- I also enjoy googling obscure details, and I can do that right from my ebook
That said, I know ebooks aren’t for everyone. They just work best for me.
And ditto to everything you noted, Kim.
Im sure my husband can tell you the exact number! If i see a book and find it interesting, i have to buy it. What if its not there next time? There is nothing wrong with having a long TBR list.
