What is your opinion on the pacing of the novel? The sections? Did the author give enough background information to enhance your reading?
Great question, @Kay! I thought the book was well done, but I did feel I would have liked more connecting information between the three stories. I enjoyed the characters but missed learning about the pieces of their lives that the author skipped.
I didn’t mind it broken up into the sections. The problem for me was (1) I thought the book was too long, and (2) I wasn’t as interested in the second and third parts, so by the time I made my way through, I wasn’t as engaged.
I liked that the book was broken up. I also was ok with the pacing. I was fine with the book jumping between POV. Except for the last section where the POV jumping around was not clear and I would have to read a few paragraphs before piecing together whose POV I was dealing with.
The pace was okay, a bit slow at times. I agree with those saying the sections were not as connected as they could have been. For me, never really felt an understanding for Lily and thought the break with Matthew offered a missed opportunity to go deeper into her character.
