Overall, what did you think of The Ghostwriter? (no spoilers, please!)
I thought it started out slowly, but ended with a bang.
It took me a bit to get into the book but once I did, I thiught it was a good story, interesting twists and well written
This was an excellent mystery. It will be a great discussion for bookclubs. I am sure each member as they read had ideas on who was the murderer. I do want to mention my heart broke for Vincent. This was a book I remembered long after I read it.
Yes it did start a little slow. But definitely picked up speed and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The ending was a surprise and well done. Great mystery.
It took a bit for the momentum to build but was a good story that kept you guessing. I also enjoyed the character development and how the relationships evolved.
I thought it was terrific from start to finish—a really good mystery. (I haven’t read any of the author’s other works, but want to now. Has anyone else read her other books?)
I truly enjoyed the book, it did start slow for me, but once hooked, I didn’t want to put it down. Family dynamics, yikes!
And Book of the Month Club for June includes The Ghostwriter.
I thought it was very enjoyable. I liked it from the start and thought it was suspenseful and kept my interest.
I really enjoyed the mystery. The story kept me interested and engaged. I could see this being a good book for a group discussion.
It took a little reading to get my footing in the story. At that point, I couldn’t stop reading. I wanted to know what really happened and I liked the twists. I would recommend it.
I really liked it and found it fast and easy to read. I don’t normally like the multiple POV approach that takes the reader back and forth between time periods but Clark did this so seamlessly it was easy to do. Nice segues.
Interesting to read how some readers took some time getting into the book, and others got drawn in right away. I am in the latter group and was hooked immediately. I really enjoyed this book. It was like peeling away layers of an onion to get to what really went on with this family. I loved it.
I enjoyed it. It took me a minute to sink into the story, but the atmosphere and writing were great. It kept me turning the pages.
A 5 read for me. A very well crafted mystery with excellent character development! I thought I knew the characters well until I didn’t! The plot that slowly unfolds but creates enough tension for you to want to continue. The many to twist and turn making the pieces of the puzzle difficult to fit.
I liked the book; the clues were well paced and kept my mind whirling.
I suspected who fathered Lydia’s baby. Yup. I was highly suspicious of Mr. Stewart’s attention to his students and considered his connection to the siblings. The ending’s details had a few surprises. The book kept my interest all the way.
I loved this book and the way the author developed her research, her meeting with other people who knew her father’s siblings. The ending was perfect.
I was pretty confused keeping characters straight for awhile, but ended up really enjoying the book. Very well written and certainly kept me thinking and wondering.
Overall, I liked the book but the slow pacing made it a little hard for me to get into.
Honestly I was not fond of Olivia’s character.
I gave it 4 stars overall. I didn’t guess the twist and that always makes me feel like that makes for a good mystery.
