I have never read J. Sutanto’s other titles.

I have seen many of her books and have done a few spotlights on them, but this is the first I have read and REALLY enjoyed it.

I really enjoyed her Vera Wong character. I’ve just read the first book in that series and it was really fun. I looked forward to seeing what Vera would do next. I think Vera was more likeable and down to earth than Mebel was.

Both books in the Vera Wong’s series are entertaining and much like Ms Mebel Goes Back to the Chopping Block are easy reads. This one, however, is my favorite so far. I thought it was delightful. Next up for me when I am looking for lighter books will be Sutanto’s Aunties series.

I did read Unsolicited Advice for Murderers, but I have to say I preferred Ms Mebel and enjoyed it immensely. I read this book in 2 evenings and it had me chuckling out loud, I still have a grin on my face.

I agree! Vera Wong was more relatable than Mebel although her nosiness drove me crazy. Both characters are delightful in their extremes.

I have read Jesse Q. Sutanto’s Vera Wong’s Unsolicited Advice for Murderers series and enjoyed them, which is why I requested this book. They are different genres and I enjoyed both. I think I like Mabel’s character more and would like to see a sequel that explores her continued growth.

I have not read any of Ms Sultano’s other books, but I think they will be enjoyable and look forward to heading to my library to find one or two (or all of them - ha).

I really enjoyed the Vera Wang books and is one of the reasons I requested this book.

It has been a while since I have read Ms. Sutano’s other books. I really enjoyed this one. Mebel learns a lot and takes the cooking world by storm.

I have read the Vera Wong books. They are truly a fun read and a great palate cleanser if you have read several deep, serious books and you need a break. Ms. Sutanto is a wonderful writer and describes surroundings and people with great wit and beautiful sentences. Every page is a delight. I am not finished with Ms. Mabel, but she is a character with all the excentricness and stubbornness as Vera Wong. I’m highly enjoying it.

It’s very fun to see readers’ different character preferences. Like Kathleen C., I requested Ms. Mebel because I enjoyed the Vera Wong books so much. I still find Vera more interesting and entertaining than Mebel but I’ll read any book by Sutanto when I need a light, fun read.

I agree! I think one of the best compliments to an author is when her writing makes you laugh out loud. One chuckle moment for me was Squanto’s description of Mebel typing on her phone with index fingers ‘like T-rex”. I know people like that!

I have! I have read one of her thrillers, Read Between the Lies. I really liked it, it was one of the Kindle First Reads. I want to read more of her work. I LOVED this one.

This is the first book I read from this author. Not sure I will read more

I have not read any of her other novels, but after reading this one I am definitely interested!

Yes, I have read Dial “A” for Aunties.

I have not read any other books by Jesse, but I am planning on reading the two Vera Wong’s books, they came highly recommended by a dear friend
