Have you read Michelle Collins Anderson’s first novel, The Flower Sisters? If so, how do the two books compare?

Have you read Michelle Collins Anderson’s previous novel, The Flower Sisters? If so, how do the two books compare?

Yes, I read The Flower Sisters. Both books are about family, circumstances and horrible events. I feel strongly that each book stands on its own. Both books are based on historical events which were the basis of the storyline. Loved that each book’s sisters were so devoted to each other.

I think The Flower Sisters has a more reflective feel with the dual timelines. The Moonshine Women has more tension with the danger of running Moonshine. The Flower Sisters centered more on healing the past and The Moonshine Women is enduring the present and how do we survive right now.

No, I have not read the other two. However, I’ll have to put it on my list.

I have not read The Flower Sisters, but I did see it around when it came out. I would like to read it to see how it compares.

I have not read The Flower Sisters, but it is now on my list for sure!

I have not read The Flower Sisters, but I have the book and look forward to reading it soon.

Michelle Collins Anderson will be visiting us next month for a Q&A. I hope folks will stop by! I’m planning to read The Flower Sisters in the next week or so as part of my prep for the conversation and I hope others will join me. Should I open a separate discussion topic for that book, do you think?

It sounds like I will have to add The Flower Sisters to my reading list.

I enjoyed Moonshine, so will add Flower Sisters to my TBR

This is my first book by the author. I like the way she has chapters about each character. I admit I have a favorite sister. I like Shine and get excited for her chapters. I am behind in my reading, My mother was hospitalized and has need some help. This book has made me want to read more by this author. I love a character driven story, She delivers that

I have read both books. I loved them both. Each book had its own theme so they were different. I loved her writing it just draws you in to the time and place.

I have not read The Flower Sisters but would like to now!

I have not read it, yet.. I got the ebook and will be reading it soon. I am a fan of Michelle Collins Anderson’s writing now.

I have not yet read The Flower Sisters, but I already own. I most definitely want to pull this book out of my huge TBR stack, and read it sooner rather than later. If this author’s 1st novel is nearly as good as The Moonshine Women, I know I will thoroughly enjoy reading The Flower Sisters.

Hi Kim -

What is the date that Michelle Collins Anderson will be visiting BookBrowse for a Q&A? I would like to hear what she has to say.

How would I have learned about this author’s visit if I did not see it here while I was replying to the questions about The Moonshine Women?

Where in the BookBrowse site would I find out about such scheduled visits for other authors?

Thank you for your help!

Marilyn Broderick

Like others - I haven’t read The Flower Sisters but will add to my ever growing list. I wonder if Anderson is working on another book. Guess I’ll have to ask her. Strong women seem to be her forte.

@Marilyn_B and others - So as not to get too wordy, here are the brief answers:

Michelle Collins Anderson will be taking questions from the BookBrowse community from April 14-16, stopping in at least once a day during that period.

The discussion will open here around midnight April 14 (EDT) and close for additional comments after April 16. The Q&A will remain online permanently so folks can read the discussion at any point.

We advertise the Q&As in the newsletter - look for the rotating graphic that scrolls through the upcoming authors. You can also see who’s scheduled by looking at the Upcoming Events calendar.

I’d love suggestions about how to better publicize our upcoming authors. I’ve been a little disappointed that people haven’t been more interested in asking these writers questions, but given Marilyn’s question, I’m wondering if people just aren’t picking up on the visits. Thoughts?

Is it more of a board talk like this? I thought we had to be on at a specific time. I am more likely to come leave a question and come back then to be ob at a specific time

Hi @Renee_P - It’s exactly like this. People ask questions. Then, once or twice a day (sometimes more) the author pops back in to answer them. There’s no set time, everyone just stops by when they feel like it. For examples please see the discussions here. Some authors are more responsive than others, so the quality of the conversations vary, but this should give you a good idea about how they work.
