In narrating her story, Gwen states very early on that she tries to be normal (e.g., in the way she dresses, in her work, in the men she dates) but that she doesn’t really think she is, given her past. What do you think? Is she normal, or has she been warped by events?
Unfortunately I think with her past there is no way she could be normal. It made me sad that it seemed she was faking normal, not living normayy.
Considering what she went through as a child I must say it would be impossible to be normal. Especially what she remembered as the last killing was still haunting her.
Gwen should’ve been in therapy. She was obviously deeply affected by what her father had done, especially having been a part of all of it, yet she has lived a life. Not a normal life, necessarily, but…
Considering her childhood, no way can she be considered to be normal. What is normal? Many different definitions for different people. She needed to be in deep seated therapy sessions for most of her life. What a struggle she was given!
I think she’s good at faking it but inside she knows she has gone through things that no others will and that makes her “not normal.” Whether others perceive her as normal depends on how much she reveals.
Gwen was anything but normal. With her upbringing she was smart, street savvy and sensitive to what was going on around her.
I don’t think anyone could be ‘normal’ given the situation that :Gwen grew up in.
I think she did a good job leading as normal of a life as she could, given her upbringing as well as current events. She could’ve just gone on a killing spree of her own, getting rid of any potential suspects without much evidence, but she didn’t and I think this served as proof of how muh different she is than her father.
I think she was trying but kept people at a distance because she was afraid they would find out she was not normal in the way she thought. Your experiences shape you and hers were so extreme compared to others that I think it would make her different.
There is no way she could be normal, given her past. Seemed like she was trying, but her past was right there waiting for her!
I didn’t think she was normal at all! Her curiosity in all of the wrong doings going on around her and her willingness to let things play out just to see what would happen, all made me think she had some deep mental illness….and I am sure she did, given her history with her parents!
Nope. She will never be normal. I mean none of us really are. And what is normal, anyway? But, even given that, no she will always be pretty f-ed up
