Dublin Literary Awards 2026 longlist

This is perhaps my favorite annual awards list because it is comprised of nominations from librarians around the world. Starting with a nominations list of 69 titles this longlist of 20 has been winnowed down prior to the shortlist announcement on April 7 and then the award on May 21.

Have you read many of these? I’ve read Intermezzo and Our Evenings, and interested in some of the others.

I have read There Are Rivers in the Sky. It was very good.

I’ve read seven of them, and absolutely all of them except one*:

The Antidote
Our Evenings
The Creation of Half Broken People
The Emperor of Gladness
There Are Rivers in the Sky
Endling
* Dream Count

Among those I enjoyed above, I’d be hard pressed to pick any one of them over any other one. Interestingly, of the seven I’ve read, I reviewed five for BookBrowse (needless to say, all were five-star reads for me).

I own and hope to someday read Intermezzo, Gliff, and Creation Lake.

I’ve read: Endling, The Antidote, The Emperor of Gladness, The Empusium, There Will be Rivers in the Sky. I very much liked all of these except The Empusium.

I dnf’d: Creation Lake, Dream Count, and Our Evenings.

I think I may grab Intermezzo for my next audio read because it is hanging out in my library tbr list.

Just FYI: someone tagged The Antidote but the picture posted is the wrong book. It should be The Antidote by Karen Russell.

Thanks for the alert. I’m delving into the list now. My current read, The Endling, made the cut.**

@Anne_Glasgow yeah, that happens a lot, and it happens every single time with The Antidote. There’s something about the algorithm that just doesn’t like that book. Nick dinked with it to improve the matching several times, but it’s still not 100%.

Sorry, I must have missed an earlier convo about The Antidote. Didn’t mean to pile on. Is Nick coming back post-baby?

I hope you enjoy The Endling @NanK Share your thoughts when finished if inclined. It’s sort of an odd but memorable book so lots of disparate opinions.

Will do, Anne. I’ve already discovered oddities. The End isn’t really The End!

Oh, you didn’t miss anything, @Anne_Glasgow! Sorry if I gave you that impression. No, it’s just been a problem since Nick implemented the feature months ago. He’s worked on it, and it’s better, but not 100%. And for some reason, The Antidote is always impacted.

Nick really didn’t take much time off post baby. He’s been available, although perhaps hasn’t been around as much lately.

@NanK and @Anne_Glasgow, do you want me to create a discussion thread for you for Endling? That way you can be a spoilerific as you want when talking about it.

That might be helpful as the book seems to jump around a bit.

Hey, @NanK and @Anne_Glasgow, here you go! I’ll probably jump in, too, since I read Endling not that long ago.

Anyone else is welcome to view or contribute to the discussion at the link below, but be forewarned, it will likely contain spoilers.

I’ll do my best but it’s been awhile since I read it and another month before I need it for book club.

No worries! It’ll live online forever, LOL. It’ll give folks a chance to comment on the book if they’d like.

I’m actually surprised more of the members here haven’t read it. It’s gotten quite a lot of praise (well deserved, in my opinion) and it’s a quick read.

I read Creation Lake and Dream Count. I attended an author event and heard the author of Dream Count talking about the book.

I give you all the credit @Jacquelyn_L I didn’t finish either of those, just couldn’t get into the stories/characters.

I’ve read The Emperor of Gladness and would highly recommend it. I own several others that I’m anticipating to read.
