William tells Evelyn, “The longer you go without seeing someone, the harder it is to remember why you were so angry with them…” (p. 185). Do you agree with him? Why or why not?
In most cases I agree with William. I think time does heal, but also it depends on the circumstances and why you were angry.
Not always. If what makes you angry with the person never changes, it’s pretty easy to stay angry for a long long time.
I agree with Paula. As time goes on you can let go to what happened, but if you were deeply hurt you may never forget.
Often the anger fades but as others have said, it depends on the circumstance and how much you were hurt.
That can be the case depending on the reason for the anger. However it can also be the opposite and the distance can just inflame the anger more.
I tend to agree with this. If you see them after some time has passed, it might not take long to remember. I think children want to believe that a better relationship is possible with a parent.
I agree with that statement. Time has a way of erasing the bad and highlighting the good. However, it depends on one’s mindset. I generally come from a place of letting go of the past and focusing on the future.
Absence makes the heart grow fonder. I totally agree.
I tend to agree with this; however, it depends on what the issue is. If the person you are angry with cheated on you, lied to you, committed crimes, etc, then you are going to remember, and you should. But sometimes, for a minor issue, it is easy to forget what started it.
