Why do you think Helen struggles to cope with her clairvoyance?

I think Helen tries to fight it because she is frightened of it and thinks it can only bring trouble not help

I believe Helen simply didn’t understand how to use her gift, and it scared her. She had so many practical things to be concerned over what with her George away and coping with daily family needs that her life was confusing. Even if there was a war, life must go on.

I think Helen doesn’t understand it so she is fearful to go down the path of clairvoyance. She seems to want to exist in the real world, with real problems.

I believe Helen was frightened and confused by her clairvoyance, and loathe to explore or employ it. She saw herself as someone ordinary and didn’t acknowledge or comprehend that she was really gifted, unique, and had something valuable to contribute. It wasn’t until she saw that she was like the other members of her family that she began to accept who she was, along with her inability to convince herself that her visions were inaccurate, particularly when she saw George’s fate clearly and could not deny that it was a tragic depiction of reality.

I think that whenever someone has something “different than normal “, it can be frightening: fear of rejection, fear of being singled out, fear of discrimination, etc. Helen struggles because she just wants to “fit in “.

I think Helen might fear it . She might feel as if she is going to be seen as different and weird. Maybe she feels scared of her ability .
