Who did you suspect of the crime? Did your opinion about the guilty party change over the course of the novel?

I really had no one pegged for the murder. Every suspect to me was credible though I did like Scott - he was kind of a bumbler. But I guess I was surprised when the murderer was revealed.
I suspected Robin all along and doubled down on that after the Scarf incident. I was curious motivations from the step children after they were so hateful so I did suspect some involvement there as well.

The identity of the murderer was a surprise. There were so many characters with motives and opportunities to kill Victoria.
My idea of who the killer was changed several times over the course of the story. At one time I suspected Pia,and at another time, Monty. I had also considered Robin, but over all the story kept me guessing until the end.
I had no idea. It could have been any one of them.
One of the things I liked about the novel is that it kept me guessing, I think I suspected almost every character at some point.

I like to let the mystery unfold and I try desperately not to pin suspicions on anyone. That being said, I thought Scott was a little too obvious, as was Pia. I was quick to rule out everyone but Robin.
This is my approach as well…let the mystery unfold and lets my opinion ping pong around as I read. That said, I didnt suspect Robin.
I found myself jumping around, never expected Robin until the end when we found that Lauren was guilty of fraud and her brother’s incident. Early on I counted Monty out since it would have been too obvious a choice with his background. I kept thinking it has to be a different type of a murderer not the usual recovering drug addict, gambler/lady’s man or child’s of the father’s mistress.
I suspected multiple people at different points in the story but for a while I was convinced it was the employee who told Olivia about the trail leading up to the back of Victoria’s house.
I was actually suspecting Scott the most given his history of drug use, and then I started suspecting Monty though never as strongly as Scott. I also suspected Neil at some points but very briefly. Oh, and up until the very end - Pia, especially when she came to Olivia’s room to report Scott missing - I was almost sure she was the guilty one and had actually already killed Scott and was sending Olivia on a wild goose chase.
Me too. The fact she was the only one who mentioned depression was my tip off. Vickey was close to her daughter and lover. They would have noticed it also
I expected it was Marcel from the beginning but later doubted I was correct. I was glad that it was a surprise.
I went through a period of suspecting everyone. I particularly enjoyed the relationship between the world’s greatest detective and her just ok assistant. It reminded me of Poirot and Captain Hastings. I will look forward to more in this series to see how the relationship grows.
