Who did you suspect of leaving the cryptic note for Dulci, and what did you believe might be behind it?
I had no idea who left the note. I thought it might have something to do with Billy’s disappearance.
I thought this was the weirdest plot device in the book. It made zero sense until it was wrapped up in the end. Towards the end of the book I was even wondering if the author was going to address the note and why it was sent.
I thought it had something to do with her past - it seemed random and not connected to Billy’s disappearance. After the letters to Emilio surfaced I wondered if she had an affair with a married man.
I agree. I suspected that it was a woman who hated Dulci for her infidelity.
In the end, the note didn’t add anything to the story other than to reinforce Columbine’s personality and grudge.
I did not know who left the note. i thought she had a dark secret and someone found out.
I somehow always expected it was from Columbine because of her animosity towards Dulcie.
Initially I thought it might have been someone in town, someone who knew of her infidelity.
I wasn’t really sure? I thought she should have divulged it during the investigation. It only made sense to me when Columbine owned up to it and quite frankly, after that, I thought the note was stupid and I’m surprised Columbine didn’t burn it when she had the chance.
Wow, yes, I should have listed Columbine’s admission as a plot twist I didn’t expect. I truly did not guess that she had anything to do with Billy’s disappearance as she seemed so ashamed. I never would have guessed that she sent the note to Dulcie. I wasn’t sure we would ever discover that and somehow thought it was an Italian plot but it would have seemed to revolve around Emilio somehow.
I agree with Dorothy. Also, it was a red herring in the plot because it was not linked to Billy’s disappearance.
I didn’t undertand that and from the looks of the opinions above, neither did anyone else!
I was not sure who left the note.
I also had no idea who sent the note or why. It’s sort of like a red herring, to keep us wondering and confused about something that was merely coincidental to the story.
