Which plot twist surprised you the most? What red herrings did you see?
I am not sure that there was a plot twist that really surprised me. There were definitely twists and were handled well ( I didn’t feel anything was just thrown in for the sake of having a twist) but they didn’t shock me.
Throwing in EDDNA was probably the biggest surprise to me and didn’t really think there were red herrings.
I must admit that I am not very good at solving mysteries and I usually don’t see a plot twist coming at me, so the first surprise for me was finding out that Roger was not dead!
I’m with you, @Holly_K! I rarely see plot twists coming, too. I agree Roger being alive was one of them, as was the involvement of the FBI agent.

I think that the EDDna was one that surprised me the most. I guessed Roger was not dead
EDDna was the “twist” in my thinking as I sure didn’t believe hodags were real! Once EDDna was revealed, the plot had to move into the direction Ryan wrote. I did wonder if the high school administrator might have been as a possible co-conspirator.
The biggest plot twist for me was that Roger was still alive. I didn’t see that one coming. I also assumed that there would be a logical explaination for the murder, then to find out it was a lab created mutant was a surprise as well. At some point, you could see that coming, but not early on.
The book was nice plotted. I don’t recall any specific red herrings or bizarre twists. Discovering Roger was very much alive was a bit of a surprise. However, I’ve been reading murder mysteries and thrillers since I was in high school Few developments in fiction shock me. But in real life, I’m surprised by man’s inhumanity to man, the lavk of conscience by people, the depravity, and the creative ways people use to scam the system.

The art thief was the most surprising and the FBI resulting investigation of Sonja. The FBI breaking into Morgan’s room was unexpected. Also, the person who saved Morgan in the “goon chasing episode” was a surprise as well. Could it have been David, the person she most feared?I felt all along there could be illegal genetic engineering that created this “ugly beast”.
