Which of the women do you sympathize or identify with the most? Who do you think had the best life overall? Is there one you’d like to swap places with?
I think I identify with Fern the most. She came from a working class family and they were poor. I went to a private high school. My parents were factory workers and most of my classmates parents were professionals. I often felt I had to catch up. They were nice, but I wasn’t one of “them”. When they all went off to private colleges, I went to the state university and was happy to go. I never was able to shop for my own clothes while I was in school. And I get how that feels.
