None of them. I did feel sorry for them, but I really wanted them to throw off the belief in the curse and live their lives.

I did enjoy Monife because certainly enjoyed life.

I don’t think I connected with any one of them in particular. They were all very different and unique in their own ways.

I liked them but didn’t connect with them.

I really connected with Ebun. I empathized with her determination to live life on her own terms. She was determined to be a single parent and did a fine joy raising Eniiyi. (OK, well, maybe she was a bit distant as a parent, but still…)

I felt a connection with Ebun who tried to separate from the curse by deciding she didn’t need a man. She didn’t need a man to take care of her or to define her.

I think I related to Bunmi and her repeated efforts to use juju to bring her husband back. I compare it to constant praying for something you know is unobtainable but you really don’t have faith that it will happen. Both these efforts are based on groundless optimism.

I like Ebun the best as I felt she was the strongest of the female characters. She didn’t want to be defined by the curse and went out of her way to become an independent single mother. Monife at first seems strong but then succumbs to her depression and emotions over her lost boyfriend.

I didn’t connect in an “I know exactly how you feel” way with any of the women, but I cared about them and wanted Eniiyi succeed in escaping the curse.

Well said Nan, I could not have said it better. All of these women were not my radar.

I really didn’t connect with any of the characters. Maybe because I didn’t like any of them, and really didn’t like this book.

Eniiyi because she was college educated and tried to be logical. I am a very practical and logical person.
Honestly, I like to read books about people I do not connect with. I learn more and broaden my perspective that way.
