Which famous figure should write an autobiography or memoir (who hasn’t already published one)?
My “go to” for this question was going to be Margaret Atwood, but her memoir, Book of Lives, just published last week, darn it! (High on my TBR list for sure!).
I’m going to go with George Saunders, author of one of my favorite books, Lincoln in the Bardo. He had odd jobs as a roofer, a doorman, a slaughterhouse knuckle-puller, and his undergraduate degree is in geophysical engineering, so it seems like he’s had an interesting life. He’s got such a great outlook on the world that I’d love to know how he got there, especially since he’s only two years older than I am and I turned out a total cynic.
Lincoln in the Bardo is one of my favorites, too. My author choice would be Amor Towles - A Gentleman in Moscow, Rules of Civility, and The Lincoln Highway. These are diverse topics, which makes me curious about his background.
Nan, I agree Amor Towles would be interesting. I enjoyed the three books you mentioned especially Rules of Civility.
I’m going with historical figures: Abraham Lincoln or Crazy Horse. Much has been written about them, but I would like to learn their perspectives on their lives.
