A Walk in the Woods is probably the funniest book I’ve ever read, although Bryson’s Notes From a Small Island is a close second.
I started reading A Walk in the Woods while waiting in the pre-op ward for surgery. The head nurse came by because she was totally perplexed at hearing my laughing out loud and insisted on looking at the title. She figured I was the most relaxed surgical patient she had ever seen in 20 odd years of working the surgery unit.
