Absolute top of my list is Lonesome Dove. What a great miniseries that was (and also a great book). Another exceptional made-for-TV series was Little Fires Everywhere, based on the novel by Celeste Ng.

The Count of Monte Cristo was really good. As I said elsewhere I think the Anthony Horowitz books in the Susan Ryland series is good fun. The Dark Winds series is great. The Handmaids Tale. Pachinko.

Gosh, this could be an almost never ending list.

I didn’t know The Count of Monte Cristo was a miniseries. I’ll have to look for that one. That’s one of my all-time favorite books.

The Count of Monte Cristo is on PBS and it was beautifully rendered.

“Dark Matter” by Blake Crouch was so well done! I also enjoyed, “Wayward Pines” by that same author.

Lonesome Dove is most definitely my absolute all time favorite miniseries, also. I know Netflix is coming out with a new miniseries of it, but there is absolutely no way they can top Robert Duvall as Gus. Every character/actor and scene was total perfection.

Totally agree on a never ending list. There are so many excellent ones out there.

My husband just finished watching the HBO adaptation of Stephen Ambrose’s Band of Brothers which I had previously viewed. As I walked in and out of the room numerous times, it finally hit me that Band… is one of the few miniseries based on a nonfiction book.

@Anne_Glasgow@ kim The PBS miniseries of The Count of Monte Cristo is, I believe, quite recent. I just finished watching and thought it to be excellent! Because I have not yet read the book, can’t say how closely it followed the original but it was beautiful and well-acted. ( My vote for the next long read.)

The Count of Monte Cristo (PBS) is newly released in 2026. I had read the book a couple of years ago and best as I could remember it was very faithful to the original story.

I have serious love for The Count of Monte Cristo. I’ve read it several times and would read it again in a heartbeat.

I enjoyed the adaptations of 11/22/63 and Silo (AppleTV). I also really enjoyed The Handmaid’s Tale (Hulu).
