What was your opinion of Leah’s and Niamh’s relationship? Do you think they were sisters, of a sort? Why or why not?

I was irritated by Leah’s rudeness to Niamh. Once the murder was solved at the end of the book then perhaps they will be friends and enjoy each other. Sisters well sometimes sisters have difficult relationships so let’s say they are friends.

I saw them as friends rather than sisters, fulfilling the needs each had at the time of Niamh’s mother’s death. They seemed to benefit from relating to each other. It made me think of the imaginary friends that young children sometimes have, for a time. I remember leaving an empty chair for my sister’s “friend”, but do not remember how long that lasted.

I’d like to see Niamh move on with her life, write her mom’s stories with Leah as a character, but leave Leah in the book. Niamh met others with whom she might develop a friendship.

I didn’t view them as friends rather Leah was Niamh’s subconscious helping her to process the death of her mother. As the mother had created them both then they could work together to solve her murder. Niamh repeatedly stated that she felt like Leah was the daughter her mom wanted so by working together she was able to reconcile some of her feelings of loss.

I did not view Leah and Niamh sister. Leah was a creation of Niamh’s mind to help her deal with the grief from her mother’s death and to create path to move foward.

I think it started off rather rough neither sisters or friends. However as the story progresses both learn a bit more about each other and they were able to better understand their place in the authors heart. Should she continue with the mother’s work, maybe or maybe not. Perhaps its time to stand on her own two feet and excel at what makes her happy.
