What surprised you the most about the novel? Did you learn anything new from it, and if so, what?
I think what probably surprised me the most was how much I enjoyed it! And I did learn a lot more than I already knew about Mary Quant, especially her overseas ventures - JCPenney! Who’da thunk it!
I was surprised how Mary evolved into such an entrepreneur and managed it all without a nervous breakdown!
I did learn from this book. I was not aware of Mary’s connection with JC Penny and Company and to what extent her fashions were a part of their woman’s fashion section. I also was no aware of her husband’s involvement in her success. I knew about her fashions, not her life with its ups and downs.
I knew Mary invented the mini skirt but I didn’t know she created so many different lines like cosmetics. I had no idea J C Penny’s carried her clothes.
