I bought Lily King’s Writers and Lovers in audiobook format. I’d recently completed her Heart the Lover, and discovered it was both a prequel and a sequel to Writers and Lovers (the earlier of the two). I wanted to fill in the gap in the protagonist’s life.

Heart the Lover is so good!!! I just bought Stone Yard Devotional in paperback because I’ve always wanted to read it. Usually I check out new release books from the library (max out my holds list) and buy backlist books when they come out in paperback.

Although I’m a big library user, I ended up buying a copy of “Theo of Golden” by Allen Levi, available only in paperback, upon the recommendation of a friend for two reasons: the hold list was quite long and she said it was a book she’d need to read a second time. Although I’m loaning it to a couple of others, I’ll hold on to it since I’m sure it will be discussed in my book group in the coming months.

The last book I spent money on was Home Before Morning by Lynda Van Devanter. I wanted another account of women nurses in Vietnam after reading The Women by Kristen Hannah. It was amazing and a lot of the same themes but this was a memoir instead of historical fiction.
