What other novels do you recommend that have a similar theme or flavor? Is there another author you can think of whose work is comparable?

Nothing comes to mind.

Freida McFadden is really a hit with the psychological thriller fans.

There are a number of authors who write enticing mystery novels. This one seems, however, to be in a category all its own.

I had the same thought!

I am really enjoying novels that bring the elderly to the forefront. It is like a new topic has come to life with several authors finally writing about the older population. I can think of a few books and authors who have recently written about the older population who are solving murders, or at least as being detectives, however none that highlight an elderly murderer.

The one that comes to mind is The Talented Mr. Ripley by Patricia Highsmith.

I do have a comparison. An Elderly Lady is Up to No Good by Helene Tursten. It is a translation. I bet you all can guess how the lead character solves her problems!

I just finished MAD MABEL a few months ago. This book brought to mind the character in that novel, although she wasn’t quite the psychopath Lottie is.

I’m a huge Samantha Downing fan and I highly recommend this and her other books.

The first one I read, My Lovely Wife, cemented my admiration of her writing. It is an absolute brain twister. In the best way.

I also loved He Started It, A Twisted Love Story, and For Your Own Good. Her writing is unique and entertaining.

Another book that is both twisted, surprisingly emotionally resonant, and thought-provoking is Somebody Worth Killing by Jessica Payne. It is also about a female serial killer, but she is younger. She is very much aware that she is a psychopath. It’s another brilliantly crafted story.
