What do you think of Rita’s deliberate, unspoken message to her enemies: I’m still here?

She couldn’t go fight the Germans, this was her way of fighting, of taking a stand, even if no one saw it.

I think it was her way of showing her middle finger. It was loud and clear, and she needed to express it.

I think the message was consistent with her character. She wanted her enemies to know that she was unbowed and undefeated despite her setbacks and losses. I admire her spirit.

I think it fit her character. She used whatever platform she could to advance the Allies position over the Germans, even working to sell war bonds.

These words were Rita’s “in your face” to the Germans. She shouted these same words she now wrote on a pillar, and then affirmed her life after tragedy. Great spirit! With her work to sell war bonds to advance the Allies cause, action not just words.

Loved it. Rita was a true survivor. A badass woman. She refused to go down with the ship, and despite all the losses she suffered, she persevered. She wanted to send a message to her enemies and America’s: You will not destroy us.

She wanted to show defiance to the world especially Germany.
