What did you think of the ending? Anna’s journey isn’t over—what do you think is next for her?
I think Anna needs to confess to her coworkers and perhaps leave her job. She cannot live with all the secrets. She will not be healed if she keeps everything inside. She has confessed to Nick and now once again has his love and support.
A whole lot of therapy is what both Nick and Anna will need in order for them to have a relationship and to carry on with their lives. They have a beginning as they have each other but I don’t think it will last without help. They probably need to move to a completely different location to escape the woods and the memories.
Anna returns in the author’s next book, The Sister’s Curse. Perhaps she’ll heal more.
Thanks, @NanK! I knew we were offering The Sister’s Curse, but I didn’t know it was a sequel to this one. I’m going to have to pick up a copy. Too bad it’s a First Impressions book and not a Discussion one!
Cursed Daughters is offered for First Impressions. Not the same book. Maybe I missed an email??
Actually, I read The Sisters’ Curse before this one so I knew Anna wasn’t the killer. Clearly, she needs additional therapy though to deal with all she has been through.
I didn’t realize this was the first book in a series. Even without knowing that, it’s clear that the ending is really a beginning for both Anna and Nick. They have a chance to heal, recover, build meaningful lives for themselves without secrets burdening them, and enjoy successful careers. The book had the happiest ending the author could provide, considering the subject matter, if slightly contrived.
I know, because I read the second book “Sister’s Curse”!
The ending was good. I hope both Nick and Anna get the help they need and continue to be a couple. They have a way to go.
Part of the book that the discussion questions didn’t address was the death of Dr. Richardson.
I found that very sad and hated that she was killed.
I was happy to hear that there is a sequel and will definitely be reading that one as well. The ending definitely left plenty of room for further exploration and raised some interesting questions as well. Are two people like Anna and Nick more likely to continue healing together? Are people with that kind of emotional baggage better off in relationships with someone equally burdened?
I am looking forward to the next chapter in their journey, and hope that it will involve both of them. And the baggage that they bring with them will make the story more interesting! After all, this is all made up!
