What did you think of the book’s ending? What do you think the future holds for Tullia and Pito?
This story is like a fairy tale, so I think Pito and Tullia will definitely live happily ever after. Anatole will, of course, get to witness this wedded bliss since he is immortal. He will continue helping damsels in distress and reminisce about the events that saved Tullia from the dreaded “wedding of the century.”
I was not especially satisfied with the ending, though this may reflect my general preference for narrative closure rather than open-ended conclusions. Because the novel functions as a fairy tale, I anticipated a more definitive and conventionally happy resolution. While I appreciated learning Anatole’s fate, the book’s framing as a forbidden love story led me to expect a clearer resolution to that central relationship as well.
With their love being rekindled, I think they did go to America and lived happy ever-after. I liked the ending especially when Anatole (1703 - Philadephia) met Nathaniel’s young daughter that had both a a blue and brown eye. It was suspected somewhere “along the family tree” the name Anatole became Amerianized to Nathaniel. The ending gave this reader hope for the future. The science experiments laid the foundations for later scientific breakthroughs. The author gave credit to past endeavors being valued years later.

I loved the ending, of course there will be a ‘happily ever after’ for Pito and Tulia!
It ended as it should have with Anatole continuing to bumble through his immortal life. I think the future was bright for Tullia and Pito in America where the sidewalks were lined with gold and everyone lived happily ever after. Its a fairy tale, after all, isn’t ? ? ?
I’m thinking Pito and Tulle are enjoying happiness with a family and living simply but with zest and learning.
While I don’t really mind the ending, I wish it weren’t so abrupt. At one moment Anatole was collecting necessities for the ship voyage, and then next he is taken prisoner and never hears about Pito and Tullia again, but for the child he meets by accident many, many years later.
The book was designed as a fairy tale, so I did like the idea the Tullia and Pito were able to live happily ever after. Seeing the child with one blue and brown eye, suggests they did get their HEA, but it was only suggested.
I thought the ending was okay; however, I’m not a big fan of assuming the ending. Seeing Nathaniel with one blue eye and one brown was a nice touch though.
