What did you think of Olivia’s relationship with Trevor? Why do you feel she forgot about his opening, and kept putting off calling his mother?

I think Olivia appreciated Trevor but was so excited by her job she simply put off things related to him or her mother.

I think the relationship is doomed. I kept waiting for her to find out he’s cheating on her and the book almost went in that direction when she saw the girl interacting with Trevor after the play. She obviously expressed doubts about being married to him and kept putting off the wedding tasks. You would think Trevor would take the hint and all it off.

I thought Trevor was incredibly patient with her. I understand her being excited and busy, but those were pretty big things to blow off. Especially not remembering the opening. It would be one thing to say, “Honey, I’m really sorry, but…” but to completely and totally forget about it was pretty bad.

Olivia’s dream job was to be a detective. She was stressed at Merritt’s rude comments and constant criticism. She did not have any down time to think about her fiancé or their wedding plans.

Merritt is a terrible boss in this book, and most employees would just quit. I hope she will be kinder to Olivia in the sequel.

Olivia didn’t seem very focused on Trevor or their relationship. I would not have been surprised to see it fall apart. She was just so caught up in her job. I thought Trevor’s mother was extremely patient. At the end I did see some hope. Maybe with the mother interested in Olivia’s career and willing to direct things for the wedding, I ended up thinking that it might somehow turn out okay.

I didn’t like her relationship with Trevor. I think she could have carved out more time for him.

I don’t think she was ready for a serious relationship yet. She was so excited to be a detective that she didn’t really think of her relationship with Trevor.

Olivia is not making Trevor a priority. Eventually, I think he will end up cheating on her, if he hasn’t already.

I think Olivia got so wrapped up in the new job/case and in trying to please her name boss, that she put everything else out of her mind. That being said I don’t think it is at all acceptable that she missed his opening. Regarding his mother, I hate men telling their partners how to interect with their mothers, the more you tell me I should do something in these circumstances, the less I want to do it.

I think she was extremely busy with her new job. A lot to think about and she wanted to be successful. I liked the ending of the book and believe they will marry and be happy!

I think she has a great relationship with Trevor. He is understanding and caring. I think she was so focused on making a good impression on Merritt, she just forgot and she felt he would forgive her.

I agree. I can’t see this one working out. Two very different and intense worlds.

I think that both Olivia and Trevor were wrapped up in developing their careers, and that can be stressful. Trevor is more patient and less impulsive than Olivia, and they complement each other nicely. I think Olivia may have had some doubts about being ready to make the commitment to marriage, and for that reason she avoided calling Zuzanna back, since Zuzanna was the main planner of the wedding, Trevor and Olivia being too busy to give it their full attention.

Olivia’s dream job was to be a detective. I do not think Trevor and his acting drive will mix well in the future. He seems to be a MaMa’s boy and she is so independent. Will that work, I have a feeling the ride will be bumpy for those two.

I was sure she was going to break it off with him by the end, when she realized how much of a distraction he and his mom were being to her new role. Or because he was potentially cheating with the other young lady that was in his dressing room. But I’m glad that they were all able to grow from that experience and move on as adults - it shows great promise for their upcoming marriage, as marriage is a lot of work, compromise, understanding, and patience.

I was pretty sure they were going to break up. I know they both were working on their dream jobs, but I felt like there was a bit of a disconnect between them. I really think she was reconsidering marrying Trevor by not calling his mom back, but then again she was on her first case!

I have to say that I disagree with many others here - I thought it was refreshing to see a normal and reasonably healthy relationship portrayed in the story. Trevor and Olivia are both young and very wrapped up in starting their careers, but they make space for each other to do what they want to do for their work, and they forgive each other when they make mistakes. Also, without giving away too much, while Olivia doesn’t remember the date of Trevor’s opening initially, the story does develop and the ending in regard to this point is not what you might predict at the beginning. I loved that Trevor and Olivia respected and supported each other as they are. At this point in their relationship trajectory, Trevor may be carrying more relationship “weight” by forgiving Olivia, but she has held a steady and boring job for years in order to support his career in theater. They’re there for each other.

I think Olivia didn’t want to commit herself to this man because she was unsure how she really felt. It seemed to me that she was feeling she was settling for Trevor, rather than actually feeling in love with him. I think she caught a glimpse of the future she could have had when she is at the resort and other men are showing interest in her. I think she was also unsure about the whole situation because of how she felt her future mother in law saw her. I think if someone feels like that, it’s no wonder they are hesistant to move forward in their relationship. Not liking or caring for your in laws is a hard situation to be in.
