Just finished The Bandit Queen by Parini Shroff. Interested if others have read this. It was chosen as a library community read with the author coming next month. Wondered others reactions.
Hi @Nancy_Stitle! Welcome!
I read The Bandit Queens for a BookBrowse book club and i really enjoyed it. The dialogue between the two women was hysterical! Iām not sure the opinion was unanimous, though. You can check out the discussion here:
What was your opinion of it?
Several weeks ago Parini came to a local library to discuss her book. When we heard her tell us ( in her own and engaging conversation) I enjoyed the book so much more.
She moved to the US with her mother when she was seven. To learn English she relied on the TV.
The Golden Girls was and is still a favorite. Think 4 very different and funny quick witted women with sharp tongues. Thus her 4 main characters.
Love knowing the background stories. Adds to my appreciation and still enjoy The Golden Girls as she does!
Thanks for sharing that, @Nancy_Stitle! I could definitely see a Golden Girls influence now that you point it out. I enjoyed the dialogue between the women very much and the book was a favorite of mine.
