What book or books are you reading this week? (02/13/2025)

Hi Erika! Welcome to the Book Browse community.

I just finished (for the 2nd time) My Life in France by Julia Child. Just as delightful this read as the first read! Also recently read - Birding to Change the World by Trish O’Kane - an eye-opening book on how being in nature and around birds and other creatures can change a person and a community. Highly recommended.

Frozen River surprised me in a very good way, loved it!

Oh me too Evonne–loved Frozen River–perhaps even more so the second time around listening. I think I must’ve been alive in an earlier time because I was immediately and fully drawn into the story primarily for the many ways the content was both inspired by and partially documented the life and work of an actual midwife, and for the sense of family and community. I will say though that the barn scene with Revenge :face_with_peeking_eye: spoke to a long-standing desire to see justice rendered, if only in print.

This past weekend I went to a Julia Child exhibit. The exhibit was relatively small but so well done and interesting.

She was such an optimist and an adventurer. I am definitely not even a mediocre cook, but her writing about food is delicious!

I’m just finishing the audio version of WordSlut. Informative and hilarious!

I so loved Clear! Such a nuanced ending.

I just started STANGERS IN TIME by David Baldacci.

I have never read him, but am enjoying this book a lot.

How are you liking Patriot? I was afraid it would break my heart so I haven’t picked it up yet.

The Stolen Queen by Fiona Davis. It’s reviving my childhood fascination with Egyptology. And it has a compelling dual narrative set in the 1930s and the 1970s.
