I had this book checked out from the library and browsed through it but didn’t read it cover to cover. What a remarkable project.

Anne, I also had Hidden Conversations on my library hold list for almost a year. I had the opportunity to hear Michele Norris discuss the book. It is definitely worth a cover to cover read but even the author states that however you decide to read/browse is perfectly fine. What I’m enjoying is how candid and creative people are with the six words. It is multi-dimensional in how people define “race” (ethnic, religious, geographical, social economic, etc.)
Ms Norris adds historical background as appropriate to some people’s stories.

I highly recommend The Anthropocene Reviewed. I read it when it first came out (I actually pre-ordered an autographed copy) and I still think about it. John Green makes me see the world in a whole new way.

I am reading Blue Nights by Joan Didion and just finished another book by Didion, The Year of Magical Thinking, for the second time. Both are about grief after losing a loved one. I am also reading The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien and listening to How to Read a Book by Mortimor J. Adler and Charles Van Doran. And, finally, I am re-reading a collection of short stories called Christmas and Other Horrors, which I love even more the second time around!

A friend recommended The Anthropocene Reviewed but I hadn’t picked it up yet. Guess I should!

I’m very curious about How to Read a Book, @Bridget_Smith. You’ll have to let us know what you think about it when you’re done.
