What author always makes you laugh?

We all need a good chuckle from time to time. Is there an author you always find amusing? Whose books make you laugh out loud?

I’m a huge fan of British comedy, so my go-to when I need a laugh is the late great Terry Pratchett. His books are not only funny, but clever. My favorite was a stand-alone entry in his Discworld series, Small Gods, but I also really liked Good Omens, which he did in collaboration with Neil Gaiman. (They made a miniseries of that one a few years ago, too, that was excellent!)

Most recently I’ve found myself enjoying Richard Osman’s books, especially We Solve Murders. Not British, but still very funny.

Thanks for the recommendations, @Kathryn_H! I’ve never read either author.

I was unclear. Stephanie Plum is the main character in Janet Evanovich’s mystery series.

@Kathryn_H, I should have realized that. Thanks for the clarification!

If you like Janet Evanovich, you might enjoy Jana deLeon’s Miss Fortune series. Short books with quirky characters and snort-laugh moments. If you try the series I suggest you go on order.

Thank you! I read a couple of books by deLeon several years ago but I don’t think it was from the Miss Fortune series. Thank you for the recommendation!

P.G.Wodehouse!!! Always. I love all the Jeeves books. Jeeves and Bertie Wooster equal a fun time!

This is such a great question. I feel I need books that make me feel good or make me laugh at this time in our history. I recently started the Finlay Donovan series by Elle Cosimano. The first one is Finlay Donovan Is Killing It. You should go in order. The most recent came out this year, and it finishes up the Finlay Donovan arc. Future books will concentrate on her friend/nanny.
