As the Romans do by Epstein, the best American Travel Writing 2008 Edit.
Just finished The Instrumentalist by Harriet Constable. Highly recommend this debut novel. Anna Maria Della Pieta will be a name you will not forget. She was an 18th century violinist and conductor raised in a Venice orphanage. She was tutored by Vivaldi earning the title Maesto. Yet her story is not known till now. The audio book is cleverly interspersed with musical interludes. So enjoyable!
That sounds so interesting and unusual. Thanks for posting.
This week I am continuing to read Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy. (I imagine I will be continuing it for a few more weeks ![]()
I am also re-reading Jason Stanley’s book, How Fascism Works: The Politics of Us and Them.
Hellooooo everyoonnee!! I’m new here and I’m currently reading Solemate by Lauren Mackler.
The Maid’s Secret. I love this series, the main characters are endearing.
I was so fascinated with “Shores” I have been recommending it to everyone. Filled with food for thought! I have not found any of this author’s book that I didn’t like especially her “Immigrations”
THE TREES by Percival Everett. I’ve laughed aloud and been horrified, also.
His writing intrigues me…history woven throughout.strong text
The Small and the Mighty by McMahon (for my local bookclub)
None of This is True by Lisa Jewell
Razorblade Tears by S. A. Cosby
I finished two books today. First was My Friends by Fredrik Backman and it was great. Next was Beyond Summerland by Jenny Lecoat and it was good. I’m reading Hail Mary by Andy Weir and it’s not an easy read as science fiction isn’t my favorite genre. My husband would have loved this so I’m reading it in his honor.
Welcome! Happy reading.
