Glad to hear that one’s good. It’s on my radar as well.
i am reading The Names by Florence Knapp…it’s terrific.
I am reading South to America by Imani Perry. This was a bit of a slow start, but I am all in. If you enjoyed Clint Smith’s How the Word is Passed, this is a more indepth trip through the southern states. It is told in the form of a memoir and reveals the Black Southern lifestyle during and after the dark period of slavery and Jim Crow.
I am also trying to read Erdrich’s The Mighty Red. I am at 40% and not sure whether I will DNF. Anyone want to comment?
Trying to finish the following so I can get started on a new batch:
Pride and Prejudice
52 Weeks a party of one
Story of my life
Lessons in chemistry
Anything you do say
I was reading them all at the same time but now I’m just hunkering down with one at a time to get through them asap
Just finished This is Happiness by Niall Williams, a gentle love letter to a tiny pre-electitrification1940’s Irish village. The exquisitely detailed descriptions of the village and its inhabitants shimmer.
Did you read his Time of the Child? It was fabulous.
Not yet, but I will add it to my TBR. Thank you!
Just started Death of the Author. Am liking it so far.
@Barbara_B1 if you enjoy South to America I strongly recommend Imani Perry’s newest which in Black in Blues. It’s fantastic!
Just finished Dream Count by Adichie - what a read. Stared Susan Meissner’s newest, A Map to Paradise, my book group pick.
Thank you for this rec!
