You are likely right. However, scholarship on the Ancient Near East and the Biblical period/writings are interests of mine so I like any excuse to delve into it and expand my knowledge.

I really recommend reading Gilgamesh in any event. I read the version by Stephen Mitchell and it is just beautiful. Besides that, it is one of the earliest known works of literature and explores universal themes. I had not read it since high school (a long time ago for me!) and it just blew me away.
