I agree. It was one of the best I read last year.
Just finishing up Frozen River myself, and I agree. Really top-notch historical fiction. Look for the BookBrowse discussion to open later in January!
I loved # 1 and # 8 so far. <3
Loved The Love Elixir of August Stern.
I will be discussing it too - I am probably the only one who hasnât read Frozen River yet.
My favorite books in 2024:
The Frozen River, Ariel Lawhorn
The Berry Pickers, Amanda Peters
The Anomaly, Hervé LeTellier
The House of Doors, Tan Twan Eng
The Unfinished Love Story of the 60s, Doris Kearns Goodwin
Kindred, Olivia Butler
Master Slave Husband Wife, Ilyon Woo
Donât worry, @Elizabeth! It wasnât on my radar until recently, either.
The Sound of a Wild Snail Eating should be on everyoneâs list. Such a beautifully written book with profound insights. Also, one of the best book titles ever!
I adore that book too. Iâve given it to friends as a gift and they have all loved it too.
@Nancy_M & @Roberta_Winchester - Man, you guys are bad for my TBR. The Sound of a Wild Snail Eating sounds really good. I just bought it for my Kindle on your recommendation. How soon Iâll get to it is anyoneâs guess, but at least I wonât forget about it!
I loved The Sound of a Wild Snail Eating and read it a couple years ago! One of my favorites in 2024 was The Women by Kristin Hannah.
Lol! I just bought The Sound of the Wild Snail Eating too for the same reason.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading The Unfinished Love Story of the 60âs by Doris Kearns Goodwin. I listened to her discuss it at the Library of Congress Book Festival last year.
The other book I liked that a put in the same educational category was Madness by Antonia Hylton.
Two of my âfun mysteryâ books read are Symphony of Secrets by Brendan Slocumb and A Calamity of Souls by David Baldacci
Finally, I enjoyed all three of Sunny Hostinâs fictional books about a family at the historical Black beaches on the East Coast.
I am a Doris Kearns Goodwin fan but I have not yet read her newest which Iâve heard a lot of praise for.
I love Brendan Slocumb and Iâm looking forward to book three in a few months.
I have Madness on my tbr. Iâm happy to hear you gave it high ratings.
No you are not the only one! I hope to get to it in the next few weeks. Waiting in line on LIbby. I hope I get to it before the discussion gets too far along.
The discussion should be open for at least six weeks so hopefully thatâs enough time!
