I thought that the author was going to find some way to create a story in which Lottie gets away her killing spree. Lottie is getting pretty old. She’s going to have a hard time continuing killing. Apparently, there was a long time between the first set of murders and what is described in this book. I guess she could check into the retirement community, and then start up again. Would readers actually want to read a book based on that premise? I doubt it.

Not really. The elderly often are dismissed and become somewhat “invisible” to the younger generation. Would be fairly easy to underestimate her and her abilities to carry out these crimes
Not at all. Many psychopaths evade detection.
And as discussed elsewhere, Lottie simply doesn’t invite suspicion. Women in their 70’s in the U.S. are too often overlooked, dismissed as irrelevant and “past their prime,” and virtually invisible. Which was the author’s point.
I think she’ll kill again if someone pisses her off enough, but feels like she’d rather not have to because she really is getting too old.

I was surprised that she wasn’t caught with the more recent murders, but I think for the storyline it works. I think she thinks she’s done, because she has found a new passion and someone to share it with. But I have a feeling, if she loses her temper…….. someone is going to pay.

Not surprised that Lottie was never caught, especially during her “decades earlier”. Before she retired, there was a lot less tech for catching serial killers (cameras, cellular towers, social media). FWIW, I looked up the metrics of serial killers by gender - males: 94%. females: 6%. Gender differences in serial homicide - OSU Center for Health Sciences Research Profiles
Even though she knows she’s Too Old for This, I’d guess Lottie will continue to kill - probably at Oak Manor (lots of possibilities in her new community ;>).
I was surprised that she didn’t get caught. And things might escalate if Cole can’t let it go about the documentary. She did pick up the umbrella and put it down again. And who knows, when she moves out of her house, she may find someone at her facility that she wants to get rid of!
I honestly wish she had gotten killed or forced to confess by Burke. I feel like it was a little unbelievable that she disarmed him so easily and also that she escaped from being tied up by Norma. I’d love to see a sequel where she works with Cole. I feel like she will continue to kill off the mood arises. She enjoys it no matter how much she complains about it. She’s a very unreliable narrator.
Yes I was surprised and found it a little far-fetched. Yes I think she will continue to kill because she seems to feel like that’s her only option in many situations.
I was surprised that she continued to literally get away with murder even as her memory and physical ailments resulted in sloppy mistakes. I think she will continue to kill as long as she feels threatened by someone unless and until she is caught.
