Were you surprised that Lottie was never caught? Do you think she’ll continue to kill people, or do you feel she’s finished?
Yes…very surprised she didn’t get caught.
Not sure if she will continue killing, but I would hope she would not. 
Yes, I was surprised she did not get caught. I was hoping Burke would bring her down. I do hope the last coverups would make her realize that was too much for her. However sociopaths have it in their DNA

I was somewhat surprised but, even in her mid-seventies she was very thorough in her follow up to each murder, even though her problems associated with ageing impeded her thoroughness - for example, forgetting to leave her phone behind when she went to Kelsie’s house.Would she continue to kill people? I don’t think so. She had left all that behing her long ago when she ‘retired’ after settlement following her trial in Seattle. If Plum hadn’t visited regarding a proposed docuseries, Lottie would not have reverted to murder once again. She was not a ‘serial killer’ who killed for the sake of killing. She murdered her adversaries only to protect herself from the threat of exposure, not because she enjoyed killing.

I do think she will continue to kill. I am sure that after she kills Plum’s boyfriend someone will be connected to him and then she will feel it necessary to kill them. Second book?

Not surprised. The police catch fewer criminals than we would like to think. And Lottie had become experienced, and so she methodically processed her scenes, reducing her chances of conviction.
Lottie made a few mistakes, which were plot mechanisms. The finger one was particularly difficult to get around and funny. I sat there thinking she had no way out. But Downing gave us a very creative and convincing solution for Lottie to escape that jam.
I think Lottie will want to think she will stop killing, but she is an addict to it and will keep going. Slow down maybe, but keep murdering.

I was very surprised that Lottie did not get caught …too many loose ends and connections to each other. I hope she doesn’t continue to kill people, she deserves a little less stress in her life!
After she wasn’t held accountable for the first few murders, I figured she wouldn’t be caught for the others either.
After she gets Cole, she’ll find someone at Oak Manor. She can’t help herself.

Lottie was a quick thinker/liar who could provide reasonable answers. I don’t think she’ll kill Cole, but if someone does her wrong at the retirement home she might strike again.
I was a little surprised that she did not because I did have some ambivalence towards her (was rooting for her at times but also felt she should be held accountable). I think the ending could have gone either way and I would have enjoyed the book.

I agree, that last line of the book left me wondering when she was going to kill Cole off. She was wondering if he would fit into her freezer.

It is amazing that she was never caught, and that she was so quick, conniving and creative in avoiding being caught. At some point she is likely to do it again as the saying goes, “A leopard never changes its spots”.
She was smart and figured out how to correct her mistakes so that’s why she didn’t get caught. I don’t think she will kill again. She instinctively wanted to kill Cole when he wanted to continue Plum’s work and actually picked up the umbrella. She changes her mind which to me indicated she realized she had to change and stop killing. She decides to do something good and be remembered for that. This is when she pitches doing a series of shows about other wrongfully accused people. In the last line of the book she is not thinking about killing Cole she is realizing that he is tall and if she had killed him she would have a problem getting his long legs to fit in her freezer. A lol not plans to kill him.

Me too! I don’t think she’ll be able to hold out if he persists in falling back on her story instead of moving on to other “wrongfully accused” folks. Honoring Plum will always be in his head and I don’t think he’ll be forever able to ignore her desire to explore Lottie’s story. Perhaps after Lottie dies he will take it up again…if he’s still alive…
I agree - she didn’t appear to kill just for the sake of killing. She only killed those whose actions threatened to expose her, or, as in the case of Kelsie, blackmail her. However, should she be threatened again in a similar fashion, she will likely kill again. Left alone, I beleive it unlikely that she would,
I believe the urge will always be there for Lottie. It is just in her nature. However I think she may be done killing now. She knows she has been close to being caught and she also knows that she is losing both strength and stamina. Plus living in a retirement village is not ideal for covering up a murder, much less disposing of a body.
This is a novel so in order to continue the story, of course she didn’t get caught. I would hope that real life law enforcement would be able to catch her. Lottie’s escapes were kind of fun though weren’t they?

I wasn’t surprised she was never caught after seeing how clever she was at verbal manipulation, situational improvisation and sheer determination. I disagree with others who’ve posted here that she only kills to protect herself and doesn’t get pleasure out of it. She describes murdering people in her past who she feels have insulted her and remembering the sights and sounds of those murders. She’s definitely gotten satisfaction from them-and from disposing of the bodies in a way to avoid detection. I suspect someone will offend her in the future-or threaten her with evidence of her deeds-and she’ll be slaughtering again.

I was surprised and I thought it was a major flaw in the story. The author seemed to go out of her way to make the police look stupid. If they were on the ball, they would have checked her background and talked with the detectives who worked on investigating her where she lived previously. In doing so, they probably would have suggested that she speak to the retired Detective Burke. Since he knew exactly what Lottie was capable of, the new cases would have taken a much different path. While I think she would love to cotinue killing people, she does realize that she’s feeling her age and is not as sharp as she used to be.
