Were you surprised Agatha didn’t come forward sooner regarding what she knew of Alain’s behavior? Why do you suppose she kept his character secret?
I can only say read the news now and we see that women do not feel it is safe or best for their careers to come forward. Although I must say this part of the book disappointed me greatly. I wanted Alain to be a nice guy.

Not really surprised. It ‘s difficult to face these types of situations, especially at work. Agatha needed the job and was probably concerned that she could be fired if she turned Alain in. We all need to be braver!!

I was not surprised that any of the women had not come forward. He was powerful in the world that they were all trying to survive in. Agatha wanted nothing more than to attend the school herself and was relying on the job to save that money. It was her dream and exposing Alain would jeopardize everything that she was working for.
