Were you disappointed that Carol returned to prison?

I wonder why Carol wasn’t able to use defense of others defense, or is it my misunderstanding of the UK legal system?

Yes! Again, the psychology of her character is purely fictional—and there is no reason that the actual killer couldn’t expect to be treated fairly.

I was disappointed that Carol went to prison. She redeemed herself to all throughout the story. She rose above. She didn’t need to take the fall. I have to wonder why the author decided to end the book with Carol in prison. Was that particular murder essential to the story? Hmmm

When I first started reading that she was in prison, I was disappointed. After finding out why she was there, I was proud of her.

I wasn’t surprised. She knew she could handle prison whereas her new-found friends would find it to be extremely difficult to adapt to life behind bars. Her action showed how much she had grown since her release. Although, I was a little disappointed that the others didn’t speak up to exonerate her or to at least help get her a reduced sentence and/or parole. But as someone else said, British justice could very well be different than here in the US>

I was not disappointed. I enjoyed watching her redemption. Her going to prison showed she had learned to sacrifice herself for others

This book is fiction, so I reminded myself that the author takes whatever liberties are necessary to move the plot forward and to end with a conclusion. I don’t know the UK justice system and will accept that Carol needed to be back in jail.

Yes and no. I think that she viewed the retirement home as just ‘another institution’.

More amenities…but she was accustomed to not having those and could easily do

without them…the fact that she readily ‘took the fall’ showed an interesting and

admirable side of her character.

Yes, I was disappointed. She had worked so hard to curb her proclivities and seemed to be enjoying the activities and friendships in the retirement community, that I hated that she had to go back to prison. I, like Karen, thought she (or Catherine) should have been able to use self-defense as her defense, especially with 3 witnesses.
