Tomoko Watanabe attends a sales pitch for a book by a local celebrity hawking investment strategies. Have you ever attended something similar? What did you think of her adopting the woman’s advice? How did it change her?

This my favorite story. Tomoko took the reins from her weak-willed, “I feel so sorry for myself husband” (he still had a job!) and saved her family. She broke the shackles of a misogynistic society, She didn’t amass the money for selfish purposes, she just wanted her son to have what would make him happy,

I liked Tomoko and I was rooting for her. It made me nervous when she first began investing, probably because it’s an area I find confusing and overwhelming :slightly_smiling_face:
I was so happy to see her be successful and gain self-confidence.

Tomoko was smart and learned about investing; paid attention to the economy and futures. She prospered. I haven’t attended a book pitch session although have been invited to many; however… I did attend a small gathering where a rep sold investments into their group of retirement homes, nursing home centers and company owned hospitals. Glad to say I didn’t invest much but sold out two years ago for a loss. I learned a lot about what to avoid.

Tomoko was brave not only to attend the sales pitch but to actually take action on what she learned. I loved how she focused on the advice from the investment advisor/guru and was disciplined in her approach. Really terrific. Especially because she wanted only the best for her children and was not driven by greed.

Tomoko was my favorite of the nine protagonists and I endorse all the above comments

I am skeptical of celebrities hawking anything. Tomoko judiciously did her homework before jumping into the market. She was properly motivated, not by greed but by helping her family.
