To what audience would you recommend The Magician of Tiger Castle? Is there another book or author you feel has a similar theme or style?
The sense of humor from the Wayside School series is seen in this book. But there is a difference in that some of the humor in Wayside is from the absurd and certainly the viewpoint of children who are missing key facts.
This is the first book I’ve read by Sachar. Given he is an excellent writer of young children’s books, I can see how gifted he is in creating the world of Tiger Castle. I think young adult readers will enjoy it.
A fun fantasy book that the people who like fantasy will enjoy!
Probably an older audience since young adults wouldn’t have the understanding of the importance of scientific discoveries such as those associated with Ponce de Leon and others. Also, Anatole’s usage of herbs for successful treatment of remedies would probably be found to be confusing to the younger set.
I would say this book is for Young Adult and Fantasy.
