To what audience would you recommend The Ghostwriter? Is there another book or author you feel has a similar theme or style?
Ill recommend it to my bookclub, ladies between 70and 80. We read everything but nothing like this recently and it has plenty for good discussion
Anyone who likes a good mystery. This was a book that I kept thinking about long after I read it. Also good for bookclubs I would bet like me each person would be thinking throughout the book, who did it. Good discussions for bookclubs.
Perfect for book clubs - I think the family dynamics would be a great discussion topic.
I would definitely recommend it to anyone who loves a good mystery. Lots of discussion points in the book for book clubs, from family relationships, how ghostwriting works, what the times were like in the seventies, women’s issues.
Agree again, Patricia_H. Lots of discussion to be had with this book. Great for book clubs and will recommend for mine.
I would recommend it to anyone who likes a mystery inside their women’s fiction. Absolutely for book clubs.
I would definitely recommend this book. I keeps you guessing!!
Anyone who likes a mystery would enjoy this book.
I do not recommend mysterys for my bookclubs. We like to discuss topics that have a range of realities. Biographys are always interesting or a period of history that educates you (Vietnam nurses, race relations, societies flaws, brave women).
I would recommend it to people who like character-driven mysteries. This was a slower mystery than most and lacks a clear detective-style approach. So I would pitch it more to general fiction readers who like a bit of mystery in their family dramas. Ultimately, this is more a family drama than a mystery.
Everyone, it was an excellent read!
Mystery lovers are going to love all the twist and turns. Book Club will have fabulous discussions on family dynamics, sibling birth order and rivalries, and ethical dilemmas just to name a few. However, might need to have trigger warnings with it for people who have similar trauma of their own.
I’d recommend it to people who enjoy a good mystery and to book clubs.
For me Julie Clark is similar to Ruth Ware or maybe even Alice Feeney. Her books resonate with mystery readers. This would be a good book for an in-person mystery book club to discuss.
I would recommend it to my friends and fellow book club members who like to read mystery and suspense books. I think the only people who won’t enjoy this book are those who have issues with multiple points of view and those who have issues with books that move back and forth in time, although in this case, you clearly know whether you are in the present or the past.
If you like mysteries, you should like this one. It’s kind of a slow burn mystery. I think it would be a great choice for book club members, lots to discuss!
I would definitely recommend this book for book club discussions.
