To what audience would you recommend Ms. Mebel Goes Back to the Chopping Block? Is there another book or author you feel has a similar theme or style?
Cozy readers (of any cozy genre not only mystery), but particularly those who enjoy food/cooking and/or cozies with international flair, like Manasala’s Tita Rosie series would be an audience for this book. Also, it strikes me that readers who enjoy cross-generational friendship stories like Pooley’s Iona Iverson’s Rules of Commuting or Freya Sampson’s The Busybody Bookclub might find this book engaging.
The theme of indulgent, over-the-top Asians and overbearing families (especially mothers and aunties) reminds me of Kwan’s Crazy Rich Asians and City series.
Anyone coming off a long or heavy read and needing a chuckle!
I think fans of Richard Osmond’s Thursday Murder Club would enjoy this one. The theme of living your best life after society has “retired” you is similar plus the obvious parallel of rural English villages.
People that enjoyed reading books like Miss Benson’s beetle, Killers of a certain age, The art of a lie, The spy coast, The busybody book club, Beach reads and deadly deeds, The book club for troublesome women, The golden spoon, the busy body, Pickel at Peacock perch
Oh i agree with you Margot!
Jesse Q. Sutanto fans who have read her Vera Wong novels will certainly enjoy Ms. Mebel. She employs the same level of lightheartedness and humor in this latest book.
