I would say adults, YA .

It reminds me of Vera Wong’s Unsolicited Advice for Murderers by Jesse Q. Sutanto

The Marlowe Murder Club by Robert Thorogood

Now that Brenda has mentioned Vera, I cannot help but imagine her teaming up with the Sheldon Oaks Senior Squad. What a fun adventure that would be!

The audiences to which I would recommend this book are older adults in search of a cozy mystery and readers who enjoyed The Thursday Murder Club by Richard Osman or How to Age Disgracefully by Clare Pooley.

I was never really into the cozy murder books but I think I will have a look at those two books. I did enjoy this one as a nice break from heavier reading. Relaxing and funny.

I thought it was hysterical how the author actually referenced the Thursday Murder Club books a couple of times. He was definitely aware of them. I haven’t read Pooley’s books, but I can definitely tell you Osman’s are very similar. No mass murderer, though, hahaha.

Definitely the Thursday Murder Club, but enough different that I still thoroughly enjoyed it. If the author tried to do a sequel, however, I probably wouldn’t read it for fear it would be too much like Osman.

I would recommend this book to readers who love cozy mysteries or are puzzle enthusiasts. This book definitely reminded me of the Richard Osman Thursday Murder Club series and Vera Wong’s Unsolicited Advice for Murderers by Jesse Sutanto. Another great book about a geriatric serial killer who is trying to change is Too Old for This by Samantha Downing.

Although the Queen was not a murderer (I don’t think), this whimsical depiction of a mature woman made me think of S.J. Bennett’s mystery series.

I agree it reminds me of The Thursday Murder Club. I have already recommended it to several people who have said they were looking for something fun and light to read.

Oh, the Marlowe Murder Club for certain. I loved that the characters broke the fourth wall a bit and made reference to those mysteries.

Also, Killers of a Certain Age; Kills Well with Others; The Old Woman with the Knife (also a movie!!)

I would recommend this to anyone who likes thrillers/mysteries with some humor. I think it would also make a great book club book. It’s also a bit shorter, so people who prefer that would enjoy this quick read.

I was attracted to the characters’ age and acceptance of their age. So I see the book’s appeal mostly to retired people—it’s what attracted me. Many books aimed to younger people are less interesting to me since I’m trying at present eto navigate the aging process.

I agree with the books mentionred. I enjoy this new sub genre of mysteries

I would recommend this book to Agatha Christie fans.

I think readers “of a certain age” would enjoy the book most, although I think most adults would find it entertaining. I agree with the Richard Osman, Clare Pooley comparisons. I might add Deanna Raybourn to the list.

I did not care for Clare Pooleys book. I could not finish reading it because i really disliked the main character

Residents of retirement communities might enjoy the read, especially with the many statements of wry humor, similar to that or Richard Osman in the Thursday Murder Club series.

Yes, I would recommend this book- dark comedic, murder mystery with an unexpected twist.

Since it deals with an older cast, I would think it probably would be more appealing to older readers as well. I have trouble picturing my high school students being as invested in these characters as I was. It is a great choice for a book club (live or online), and it is one I could see plowing through on a beach somewhere. Fun, easy read, and thoroughly entertaining!
