The Cloak and Dagger Club includes excerpts from each of the main characters’ books. Which was your favorite? Do the types of stories each character writes tell you something about them?
I was most interested in reading Lucy’s novel, but I would have picked up all of them, I think, except Horace’s. It did not interest me at all.
Excerpts from Frank’s books were my favorite. He wrote the books without realizing the hidden meanings of his words/phrases that reflected his earlier relationship with Lucy.
I liked Lucy’s the best. I wanted to know how she portrayed her female detective.
I liked Lucy’s excerpts best, maybe because I found myself most interested in her character. But I was really glad that all of the others were included also. I felt it gave me a special view of each writer.
While both Frank’s and Lucy’s books gave me insight into their own relationship, I particularly liked the main character and the general atmosphere of Christine’s book, Reverend Ruggles seemed like a delightful guy, and a true reflection of his actual author, Christopher Endicott.
