London Falling by Patrick Radden Keefe
(No spoilers)
A captivating surreal story about a heart-wrenching event. The story unfolds in a nonlinear manner taking several tangents into various characters’ pasts therefore setting the stage for the main story line. The somewhat detailed histories were relevant to the current event so I found that I didn’t mind the detours.
This was the first book I have read by Patrick Radden Keefe but won’t be the last.

Gabi_J, I am with you 100%. I read this for my nonfiction and I was hooked. Radden Keefe came to my town earlier this year to promote the book. He was charming, funny and thoroughly engaged with the audience (even though I am sure he was exhausted from the book tour)
Did you know he was a J Crew model? Only one time and the photos are awesome…a writer as a model!

This prompt led me to Land by Maggie O’Farrell. Her prose is remarkable. I thoroughly enjoyed Hamnet, and after its galaxy of success, it must be tough to write. I enjoyed the book, and it had me rethinking the Great Hunger and that those that survived had PTSD. When I first learned about this event, it was the Potato Famine, which truly oversimplified the politics and class distinctions of the time.
