This was a wonderful book, and I have already leant it to several friends who really liked it too. The narrative structure was like a spiral, pulling the reader deeper into the story, until the end when I couldn’t put the book down until I knew how it ended! I think this book is going to be a big hit.

I loved everything about this book. The characters came to life for me and I still think about them. I especially loved the way the author created suspenseful situations and cleverly unveiled the outcomes.

While I frequently had to go back to pick up characters, it was engrossing. The characters were all distinct and well described. I would like to have known more of Lottie as well as others. For those who haven’t read it, a little note taking might be helpful.

Overall I really enjoyed the book. Even as I started to figure out what had happened in the past, I found myself continuing to read as I want to know the entire story.

I loved this book. The author did a great job with the alternating chapters to give the reader a real feeling for the characters. Kelly Mustian allowed readers the opportunity to make their own conclusions about the "good’ and “bad” people in the story. It is interesting that Mildred seemed to be the character with less charm and a one-dimensional personality.

I really loved this book. The prose was beautiful, the author created strong, memorable characters and the pacing of the plot was very well done. There were elements of mystery and suspense that were handled well and kept me reading well into the night.

I enjoyed this story. At the beginning I got a little confused, but it did get better as the story unfolded.
I did enjoy the book and the various characters. Like others I initially had difficulty going between time frames.
Like several others have mentioned, I struggled in the beginning keeping all the characters and time periods straight, but eventually I was totally absorbed by this book. Yes, I would definitely recommend this book to others. The descriptions of life during the 30s for Becca and all the others was informative for me. The hardships they all endured were brought to life by Kelly Mustian’s writing. I was mesmerized by it.
I honestly loved it! I enjoyed the characters, the POV’s & the time frames for both story lines.
The book was very readable and the story hooked me in. I had some difficulties remembering the many characters, but over-all I recommend the book. The characters and circumstances were believable and interesting.
I really enjoyed this novel. The characters were well developed and the timing of the story worked well for me. Just enough suspense to keep you turning the pages! I’m looking forward to sharing this with friends and family.
