Overall, what did you think of The Moonshine Women? For what audience would you recommend the book? (no spoilers in this topic, please!)

I enjoyed my time with The Moonshine Women. It was a quick read, an engaging story about people who felt real. I especially enjoyed the sections that discussed the culture in the part of the country in that time period. Any fan of historical fiction with strong female characters would surely enjoy this one.

I love it. The story kept my interest. At time, it pulled at my emotions. The setting was so well described I felt like I was there. I love stories set during Prohibition and the Depression so this was a great read for me..

I thoroughly enjoyed reading “The Moonshine Women”. The characters were well-developed & were one of the reasons I liked this book so much. There was definitely alot going on & the author was able to make all the parts fit togehter in a way that was entertaining, exciting & kept my interest. I loved learning about the time of Prohibition from the aspect of the Ozarks’ people bootlegging practices involving the illegal making of moonshine, as well as the transport, and sale of it. The author informed me while entertaining me. I go along with what others have said about what the audience would be for this book. Readers who like historical fiction, strong characters & interesting stories should like “The Moonshine Women”.

I am enjoying it, only 1/3 done. Looking forward to finishing it this weekend!

_________

I just finished The Moonshine Women and loved it! The characters had depth and were well developed. The story kept my interest right from the start.

The characters were so dynamic. Each grew and changed as the story unfolded. Their values were tested, but their loyalty never diminished. The plot was believable and kept me engaged and eager to read the threads. Anderson is very good writer.

I enjoyed reading Moonshine Women and thought, for the most part, the characters were well developed. Elsie was the one sister who ended up without a love in her life. Maybe that was a way she proved her independence but I would have liked to see her have a life partner and her own identity like Shine and Rebecca did. The plot of the novel moves right along and keeps you wanting to know what is going to happen next. Having Al Capone appear as a customer seemed a bit far fetched but was fun. I appreciated the research the author did regarding the Ozarks and realities of prohibition and the Great Depression. I would recommend this book to adult members of my family who like to read.

I loved this book and have recommended it to my book club! It’s an engaging read from the very beginning. I didn’t know much at all about Prohibition and I found Anderson’s storytelling to be compelling.

This book was pleasant surprise. Its characters were well developed. I hal expected another female friendship book loaded with cliches. Instead, I go an historical novel. It was filled with people who were living in a time I knew little about. It was a very welcome surprise

I’ve never read a book that was set during the Prohibition Era and found the atmosphere of the Appalachian Mountains to be a perfect setting for showcasing the true stength and bonds that women can form when they are faced with tough situations.

On a personal level, I loved this story. The author was able to address each character over time and their changing attitudes. I think my book club would really like reading this book especially if members grew up with knowledge of moonshine. In fact, a person I know today bought a bottle for a friend just recently. I have forgotten the exact flavor but had a fruit mixed in.

Well-researched, well-written–a thoroughly satisfying read.
