On page 111 Frank exposes his prior relationship with Sergeant Badgers to Inspector Naughton. I found this surprising that Frank would be so stupid. Was this the author’s way of showing how self absorbed Frank could be concerning the situation of Sergeant Badgers and people in general?
Interesting - I had not picked up on this being how their relationship was discovered. At a later point in the story its obvious Frank had discussed Badgers with Rita - this came out after he had told Badgers he had told no one - and for a while I was convinced she was the one who revealed it and Frank was stupid for not being so trusting of Rita.
