Multiple characters find healing through music after trauma. Do you agree that creative pursuits can help process difficult experiences?
I think having an outlet to express creativity allows one to divert stress and anxiety. It is a way to focus on something else that is enjoyable and freeing from negative thoughts.
I think that creative arts in any form- painting, music, dance, hand crafts are both relaxing and let our mond and body relax. I do cross stitch and find that it lowers my BP, and helps me to think through things while my hands are busy. Music therapy has been used for decades to soothe patients and calm neves.
I agree with the above writings. Also to know where and how something was created is, in itself, a never ending source of learning. And, what happens to a work of art on its journey through time. Another novel that uses this theme is Portrait of an Unknown Woman by Camille de Peretti. Perhaps the end of the violin seemed “far fetched” but I thought it was also very Irish!
I absolutely agree with that statement. A creative diversion can relieve stress and bring a sense of accomplishment.
Creative pursuits can be especially powerful because they access feelings words can’t reach. Gives control and helps with memory. Having said this, it doesn’t mean every person must process trauma through art. Creative pursuits can help—but they’re not a replacement for professional trauma treatment when needed.
Creative activities can definitely provide an outlet for relieving stress and an avenue for healing. I have read of many programs for rehabilitation such as art therapy and music therapy. I would even include creative movement such as dance, yoga, and tai chi.
I definitely agree that music can be a healer after trauma. Other arts can also be helpful after a serious crisis, to take away the constant worry and maybe even some of the physical and mental pain. I had several trips to the hospital last year and couldn’t wait to get home and back to my quilting projects to help me think about something else besides those surgeries.
I think any kind of creative pursuit can reduce stress and make a person feel better about life.
I think that is the beauty of creative pursuits. They can help process trauma, can help soothe our souls when needed. So many things to help us through our lives both teh good and bad times. Music especially does this for me. I found myself finding the music that was mentioned in the book and listening as I read. I think it brought even more meaning to the story.
I absolutely agree. People can lose themselves in their creative pursuits. I have known a few high school band students who had difficult home lives and spent many hours practicing. They excelled in their programs and were recognized for their achievements.
Absolutely! A creative outlet has been proven to process so many emotions.
Some of the most comforting activities are listening to or playing music and activities that keep your hands busy, like knitting or painting. These activities are like meditation to me.
