Lottie finds the way funerals end to be depressing. “Everyone walks out and continues with their day as if nothing happened. That seems sadder than the death.” Do you feel her take on funerals and death is correct? What’s your opinion about the rite?

I think so much depends on the rite itself and the relationship one had with the deceased. I have felt inspired by some which are truly a “celebration of life” well lived and have been depressed by funerals that I attended because of a perceived obligation but no real connection to the deceased or his/her loved ones.
